Textbooks
In addition to teaching and research, I am now engaged in authoring chemistry textbooks.
The second edition of Chemistry: Atoms First has published in 2014. Changes in the order of key topics and some pedagogical improvements highlight the update of the text.
My second endeavor is a new atoms first text coauthored with Julia Burdge. Atoms first is an approach to teaching general chemistry from the perspective of telling a story starting with the atom and then building up to molecules. From molecules, it is now logical to discuss reactions while always focusing on the atomic and molecular nature of things.
My first text was as a coauthor with Raymond Chang. This is a smaller version of a standard, two-semester general chemistry text. All of the major content from the larger Chang text is there.
